Art projects are created around Core Knowledge curriculum and MN State K-3 Art Standards. All projects are collected and assessed to confirm students understanding and application of knowledge in their art work based on grade level requirements. Following instructions is a large component in the assessment, as students are learning fundamentals in art as well as; art terms, skills, techniques, and tools for different mediums.
Work habits is a category where the student’s choices; behavior and actions are assessed. I as a teacher observe the 6 pillars demonstrated by the student for their own learning and the learning of others within the art classroom; Citizenship, Integrity, Perseverance, Honor, Excellence and Respect. Students individually earn 3 points each week in art class. Kindergartners earn 5, for they have class two times a week. Progress Reports are available on the parent portal of Infinite Campus throughout the quarter. For problems logging on to Infinite Campus please contact the Operations Assistant or Admissions Coordinator. Students in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade will receive grades according to the Grade Mastery Scale. Grade Mastery Level

How Grades Are Assessed ~ All rubric expectations set within a project are based on grade level skills, with given instruction, to reach such level. A grade level skill set outcome is an M grade (meeting basic requirements). If a student demonstrates skills that exceed the anticipated expectation they will reach a higher grade level. If a lower skill set is demonstrated, the grade will reflect as such. Rubrics are listed in grade level pages on this web site.
I encourage the following reflection with your student if you have a concern with your students grade.
